We moved to CO in April so it has been 10 months since we left NC. I flew back to NC this weekend so friends and family could see my growing belly in person and so I could be showered with gifts for Lil Monty :). Here are the picture from Thursday night before I left:
Friday morning I left the house just after 5:45am MST to get to the airport. My first flight was unofficially delayed because it started to snow RIGHT as we were about to leave the jetway so they had to do a last minute "de-ice". Worth the wait I'd say instead of falling out of the sky. I also was fortunate to be sitting next to what seemed to be the only NOT overly friendly person on the plane. You know the type, the one who feels compelled to share their political views with you even though you stare blankly holding a blinking sign that says "I don't care" or the one who thinks their life story is worth sharing so you have to politely pretend to care because, yes, even annoying people have feelings. I could hear all sorts of conversations around me that I was very happy to not be a part of...I didn't want to talk to strangers, I just wanted to relax. So hooray for the sweet old lady next to me who didn't say much.
Got to Raleigh about 4:30pm EST, went to dinner, went to bed.
Saturday morning was nice and relaxing then I was off to the shower about 12:30. I'll do a separate post about the shower with pictures and such. Shower went from like 3:00-5:00 then I went out to dinner with friends then I went to bed! :)
Sunday was wonderful. Got to go back to Christ Covenant and when I sat down I got all teary - I just love that church. Then I went to lunch, visited more with a friend from college, went to dinner, went to bed!
Monday was early - got up at 6:00am to meet a couple friends for coffee before I left for the airport around 9:30. I got my first pat down by TSA. I was about to walk through the x-ray screening thing when I realized what it was so I told them I was pregnant and asked if I should go through that. The guy (who was actually really friendly for a TSA person) told me it's safe but most pregnant women stay far far away and that my other option was a pat down. So I opted for a pat down (by a woman of course) - it wasn't so bad. It was kind of funny actually. Got back to Denver around 3:30pm MST and got home to see the boys (hooray!) around 5:00pm. Looong day. I essentially got up at 4:00am MST and went to bed at 10:00pm after traveling so I was POOPED. I slept awesome.
Lil Monty was pretty quiet during my trip to NC - not much kicking around. Last night, he got back to his old tricks when Ryan was talking and trying to get him to move. I still think Ryan's voice gets him going...others are skeptical of this but I like to believe it :).

Week 23.5: Birthday fun
I forgot to talk about my birthday! I opened my presents from Ryan on Monday. He basically got me a luxury package. I got 3 pairs of fancy wool socks, a super plush robe, some belly butter :), and a gift certificate to get a prenatal massage from a little place in downtown Littleton. In no time, I was wrapped up in my robe, my feet were the warmest they've been in a while, and my baby bump was very well pampered. In fact, as I'm writing this post I'm wearing said robe and socks. The robe does make it harder to want to put on real clothes in the morning. Now I understand why I see people in them at the grocery store.
Saturday night we celebrated with my birthday dinner. As long as Ryan has known me and celebrated birthdays with me, he has taken me to a hibachi style Japanese restaurant. So, to honor the tradition in the absence of my beloved Kanki, we went to Benihana. Very good. Not Kanki good, but very good. My favorite part was when our chef walked up. His name was Daniel and Daniel is white. Now, call me racist, but I was at first non-too-pleased with having a white boy as my hibachi chef. In order of preference, I'd like a Japanese chef, then the excessively tall Jamaican chef for our honeymoon, then this guy. He did try to at least make up for it with his jokes and the occasional 'Waaaaaaah!' noise signature to most Kung Fu movies.
The other big news is that we bought Lil Monty a couple of outfits. We went into the consignment store not looking to buy anything...but alas...these had to come home with me.
Only a few more days till I'm in Raleigh. :)

Week 23: No more football
The Broncos lost. No more football until next season.
This week started off with snow and ended in the 50's and 60's. I love this weather! :)
I'll be making my way to Raleigh a week from today for a short trip. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone! Very soon many of you will be seeing my "bump" in person. Aren't you excited...
Here is the picture update:
Also, for those who are wondering, we are in fact registered on Amazon.
Ok, short post. Sorry! Maybe more next week.

Week 22: A lot more kicks and a little more football!
This week I was laying on the couch feeling Lil Monty moving all around when I thought "He's kicking so hard I bet I could see it." So I looked down, and sure enough my entire belly was jumping each time he'd kick. Very cool to see that. He's getting more and more rambunctious...in fact, one night this week before bed, he wasn't kicking but I wanted Ryan to feel how hard he's moving these days so we woke Lil Monty up.
Cardinal mistake #1...never wake a sleeping baby.
Once Lil Monty was up and moving, he didn't stop until long after Ryan had rolled over to go to sleep...which meant I didn't go to sleep until long after Ryan had rolled over to go to sleep!
Here's the other thing: I couldn't feel the baby moving during the ultrasound, even when he was doing what looked to be squats and somersaults in there. So....what in the world IS he doing when I feel him and now when my whole belly moves?! Oh man...foreshadowing of energy to come? I think so.
We've gotten a couple of our first outfits for Lil Monty. This one was Ryan's pick and I'm pretty sure he would wear this if it was his size. Well, I'm not pretty sure, I know he would.
This one is from Aunt Randa in Turkey. I love it!! I think she bought this the day after we told her we were even pregnant! She sent it for Christmas and it got here on Monday. :)
On a more serious note: On Saturday, do not attempt to contact me or Ryan from 6pm-10pm MST. Well, you can attempt it, but you will not be successful. The Broncos are playing a division playoff game against the Patriots. Our first game against the Patriots in the regular season ended quite poorly...hopefully this one will go a little better!!
And last but not least, the picture update:

The Big Reveal: Ultrasound Details
For those of you who'd like to know...this is how it all went down.
We got to the doctor's office for our appointment and we were walked back to a very fancy ultrasound room. We've had other ultrasounds, obviously, but only on little dinky machines that get the job done and nothing more. This room had a nice big table for me to lay on, a fancy-do ultrasound machine, and right in front of me was a 50" Samsung flat screen TV that the ultrasound images were sent to. I could just sit back and relax and watch Lil Monty go. Of course, I wasn't relaxed, I was freaking out waiting for the news of whether we were having a girl or a boy and whether everything was going as planned.
The ultrasound itself took about an hour. The tech was very thorough (this ultrasound is officially known as a "Review of Systems" or ROS ultrasound because they check everything!). She made sure Lil Monty had 10 fingers and 10 toes and that everything was pointed the right way. She measured his femur length, head and brain size, heart function, spine development, and finally...
The penis! Well, she didn't measure his penis, but we got a good look at Lil Monty's bottom parts. Almost as soon Ryan saw the butt shot, he knew we were having a boy! It took me a second to see what was going and I actually thought I saw girl parts. Then the tech said, "Do you see it? There's his winkie!" And I said "Are you sure? Like 100% sure? Because that's just mean if you aren't..."
Then, the tech switched from the small probe she was using to a fancier looking one and the next thing we knew we had a 4-D shot of Lil Monty! Normally these ultrasounds cost a lot extra (insurance doesn't cover them if done for non-medical reasons) but our lady was awesome and said she just wanted to have some fun with it and was doing it for free. Hooray!
He's cute hmm?
After the ultrasound was done, the results were given to the doctor (not who I normally see..and she was kind of stupid..) and then she came in to tell us everything looked normal. Big relief!
Officially, Lil Monty measured 8 inches, 15 ounces. According to these measurements, he's about 6 days ahead of schedule...our due date could be May 12 based on his size.

We still-framed this from the video...he's taking a nice yawn here..or something. |

"Best Weekend Ever!" quote Ryan Montgomery
This weekend was quite an exciting one for the Montgomerys.
First, on Friday, we find out we're having a boy! We're barely off of the high that came with that news when on Sunday the Broncos beat the Steelers in the first playoff game. And, to make things even better, Ryan scored a free ticket to that game and watched it all go down in person.
Whenever I heard commentary on the radio today about the game I got misty-eyed. Hooray for football season not quite being over yet! Next is a rematch against the Patriots on Saturday. Ryan and I had a nice dinner planned for that evening but, needless to say, we're moving those reservations to another night! Football wins.

And if you want to fill your heart with more joy, watch this: Broncos Game Highlights
We were all talking last night about how Disney probably is already in production for a movie about all of this..

A Grover Tail...Tale..
For those of you who think Grover's tail only stops wagging when he's sleeping, think again.

20 weeks: New Year's and things
I'm a little late posting, I know, since I'll be 21 weeks on Thursday and it's Monday.....but anyhow..
New Year's was fun. Ryan took me on a fancy date to the Cheesecake Factory where we had a 50 minute wait but it was worth it! Then we went home and I fell asleep by 10:30 :). No more staying up until midnight for me I guess. So, thank you to those who texted Happy New Year to me but I was already in bed/getting ready for bed even when it was midnight EST.
Today we went to see Mission Impossible 4 - very good. I highly recommend it.
Here are week 20 pictures..starting to look round from the front :)
And the countdown begins. 93 hours, 18 minutes and some change until we go for our highly anticipated appointment to find out if Lil Monty is Lil Baby Boy Monty or Lil Baby Girl Monty.
We're also in nursery-furniture-hunt-mode now and have popped into a few second hand stores looking at clothes and strollers and things we'll need. There are a couple great second hand stores in the area so we're pretty excited about that. Some things even still have tags on them that people have given away.
I'm also super pumped about this book I'm borrowing from the library called "Baby Bargains". The name itself should explain why I love it :). It's the Consumer Reports of all things baby - telling me which brands are crap and which one are good and what's a good value and what's a waste of money and so on and so forth. It's wonderful.
Ok bye.
